Roosevelt, patterned after the former Governor of New York and the 26th President of the United States, has become a fan favorite at Nationals home games as a result of his antics during the Presidents Races. In fact, Roosevelt is best known for being winless in nearly 200 Presidents Races since the tradition began in 2006.
The Presidents Races, a fixture at Nationals Park, feature caricatures of Teddy Roosevelt, Abraham Lincoln, George Washington and Thomas Jefferson, the four Presidents who appear on Mount Rushmore. During the fourth inning of every Nationals home game, the Presidents race along the warning track and down the first base foul line to the finish line near the Nationals dugout.
"We are pleased to welcome Teddy Roosevelt back to New York state for our Hot Stove event," said Chiefs President Ron Gersbacher. "Our fans are sure to get a kick out of meeting a person of his stature."
Roosevelt will be on hand at the Hot Stove Dinner greeting fans and posing for pictures. Fans can view photos taken at the dinner with Teddy on the Fan Photos section of the Chiefs' web site. From there, fans will be able to commemorate their visit with the 26th President of the United States by purchasing a number of different products. Fans also have the ability to upload their own photos to the site.
Also scheduled to attend the 48th annual event are Nationals President Stan Kasten and Manager Manny Acta plus Chiefs Manager Tim Foli, and Pitching Coach Steve McCatty.
Tickets for the Hot Stove are $50 for adults and $20 for children 12 and younger and can be purchased in person at the Chiefs' ticket office or by calling 315-474-7833. Tables of ten are also available for $450. The event will be held at the Holiday Inn Liverpool with the silent auction set to begin at 5:30pm and the dinner program scheduled for 7:00pm.
